DESCRIPTION:7:30 p.m.\n“Haunt of Last Nightfall”\nCAGE Credo in US\nRZEWSKI Coming Together\nLITTLE Haunt of Last Nightfall \nThis concert is the culminating event in a week of activities looking at the tragic events that occurred in the small town of El Mozote\, El Salvador during that country’s civil war in the 1980’s. These events inspired composer David T. Little’s work for Third Coast Percussion entitled Haunt of Last Nightfall. Events leading up to the performance include a display of photographer Susan Meiselas’s photography from the event\, and panel discussions including the composer and leaders in the field of history and human rights in El Salvador\, including Oscar Chacon\, Joaquin Chavez\, Eric Stover\, and Susan Gzesh. \nThe concert also includes works from Frederic Rzewski (a major influence on Little) and John Cage (a major influence on Rzewski) – all musical works which respond to historic events in radically different ways.\nUniversity of Chicago Residency Week\nLearn more about El Mozote.\nInfo about the concert.\nCommemorating El Mozote at the University of Chicago. \n \n
