Third Coast Percussion Quartet

As today's music continues to bring percussion to the forefront, Third Coast Percussion uses this versatile medium to create performances that are both unique and universally engaging. This dynamic quartet is committed to breaking down barriers between classical and popular art forms, bringing fresh new sounds to venues from concert halls to theaters and clubs.

Originally formed in 2004 as a satellite of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago chamber music program, Third Coast has since come into its own with a performance at the 2006 Percussive Arts Society Convention in Austin, the recent release of the group's debut recording, “Ritual Music,” and concerts and master classes at the California Institute of the Arts, the University of Chicago, and Northeastern Illinois University, among others. The upcoming 2007-2008 season promises to be Third Coast 's busiest and most exciting yet, including a performance on the Rush Hour Concert Series in Chicago, a feature concert at the Northwestern University Summer Percussion Seminar, and tours of Florida and California.

Third Coast Percussion has quickly established a strong commitment to the very highest performance standards for new music. In addition to performances of classic works by John Cage and Steve Reich, Third Coast has commissioned and premiered pieces by many of today's leading up-and-coming composers.

This unique chamber music group has continued to blur the lines between musical styles with performances at Chicago venues such as the Neo-Futurarium theatre and the The Empty Bottle. No matter what the setting, Third Coast Percussion brings remarkable intensity, finesse, and dedication to the unique music they play.
